GENDER TESTING

Hi bloggers

I am very disappointed with our South African athletic association that allows the poor girl to be morosed and stressed by negative people that can't focus on the bigger picture. The poor girl beats the world's records, but still has to be questioned of her gender.

I've always thought gender testing had to do with one removing his/her underwear in order to check his/her gender, but we all know that it will be tendered as undermining ones privacy. I think what they are doing to the Semenya girl is uncalled for. As a country we are supposed to concentrate on the achievements our fellow South Africans achieve rather than the negatives. We need to focus on supporting one another, than pulling each other down. I wonder how you guys are feeling about this issue?

Wish to hear from you soon.

Regards
Mabusi

  1. Hi there, I've just commented in Mendy's blog about this. Its so.... ridiculous. Oh by the way she/he comes from South Africa, as they classify us as under-achievers. Therefore all of a sudden they want to check where she belongs between XXY, XY or YY.Enjoy your day.

  2. Hi colleague

I am also so tormented about what is happening in that little girls life. They have destroyed her. Let us hope for the positive solution.

  3. Embattled running sensation Caster Semenya dropped out of a race Saturday following a newspaper report that claims she's a hermaphrodite.

Mabusi, we once communicated about Caster and we never shared the ideas further. What do you think will happen to Caster now that the situation is as is. Do you think is the end of her career or she still has a chance. Will it be fair if that will be the route she will be forced to take?

  4. Gender testing
Gender verification test on the South African athlete, Caster Semenya, has raised sufficient doubt about whether she is entirely female that the results are to be given to a panel of independent experts for further examination.
The results will not be made public because, unlike a doping case, it is considered a medical matter requiring patient confidentiality. Semenya was pictured on the front cover of a glossy South African magazine, having been given a glamorous makeover, though the fact that the results of her gender tests now require further scrutiny will fuel speculation that she has a chromosomal disorder.
If so, the issue will be whether she gains an unfair advantage from her condition through raised testosterone levels. But the IAAF has confirmed that, whatever the results of the gender test, she will not be stripped of her gold medal.
I think the SAA should have handled this affair better, unfortunately in S.A, you are not allowed to be tested your gender and that made the president of SAA to take unpopular decision in the interests of the athlete, however the Doctor should have given the President an ultimatum to withdraw Caster.
I think now she needs to undergo a surgery to remove the testiness that gives her an advantage over others.
